《작은 기원》
모든 것은 작은 바람에서 시작된다. 아침에 눈을 뜨며, 출근길 신호등 앞에서, 잠들기 직전 어둠 속에서.
우리는 늘 무언가를 바라지만, 대부분의 하루는 그것을 알아채지 못한 채 지나간다.
이 프로젝트는 무심히 흘려보낸 바람들을 흙으로 붙잡아두는 작업이다. 손으로 누르고 빚는 행위 안에 기원을 눌러 담듯, 다섯 점의 작품에는 저마다 다른 소망이 깃들 자리를 만들었다.
기원을 수행하는 듯한 작품들과 작은 바람을 들어주는 작은 토우들. 관람객은 그중 하나와 눈을 맞추는 순간, 자신 안에 있던 작은 기원 하나에 비로소 형태를 입힌다. 그리고 그들을 볼 때마다, 처음 떠올렸던 바람이 다시 떠오를 것이다.
《작은 기원》이 말하고 싶은 것은 단순하다. 작은 바람을 기억하는 일이 쌓이면 언젠가 확신이 된다는 것. 오늘 하루를 버텼다는 사실, 곁의 작은 것들을 알아채는 감각. 이 전시는 그 아주 작은 시작에 대한 이야기다.
《Little Wish》
Everything begins with a little wish. Upon opening our eyes in the morning, waiting at a traffic light on the commute, and in the darkness right before falling asleep.
We always desire something, but most of our days pass without our noticing.
This project captures those carelessly discarded wishes with clay. As if pressing and shaping the clay fills it with prayers, a space for a different desire is carved into each of the five pieces.
Objects that embody prayers and tiny clay figures that listen to little wishes. The moment viewers make eye contact with one of them, they finally give shape to a little prayer within themselves. Each time they look at them, the initial wish will resurface.
What Little Wishes conveys is simple. Accumulating the memory of little wishes eventually turns into a conviction. The fact that we endured today, and the awareness to notice the little things beside us. This exhibition is about that very little beginning.
